The next option is short-term Christian rehab which is under 30 days. This may be because you recently went to rehab for longer, but had a relapse. While rehab facilities offer great aftercare and relapse prevention plans, it isn’t always enough. If you return to rehab after being recently released, they may offer you a shorter stay. Your withdrawal won’t be as bad as the first time, so it’s a good option.
Pros and Cons of Long-Term
Long-term rehab has a variety of pros and cons. The pros for this option are that you have a longer period of time to recover and educate yourself on how to stay clean. You spend more time with counselors, peers, support groups and learn more in the program. The disadvantage is being away from your job, school, home and life which in itself can be very stressful.
Pros and Cons of Short-Term
With short-term rehab you are only there a few weeks, so this is a benefit right there. Some people don’t do well with long-term stays in rehab, and the stress can be even worse for them. However, for others, this is a con because it isn’t enough time to learn how to recover from their disease.
Long term and short term rehab of course have their pros and cons, so in the end it is up to you with which one will work out best. If this is your first time entering rehab, long term rehab is usually recommended, whether it is religion based or not.
