What is an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Meeting?
There are two kinds of AA meetings closed meetings and open meetings. Closed meetings are, by far, the more common. Closed Meetings are for members or those who have a desire to stop drinking. Open meetings are general information meetings available to everyone.
The purpose of a closed meeting is to provide a somewhat therapeutic ritualized approach to getting and staying sober. These meetings give alcoholics a chance to receive help from others suffering from the same condition on getting sober, staying sober, or other issues of daily life using the 12 step program.
